The fair print

The rules for ordering a book from us, in plain words. Please read them before you order.

These terms are an agreement between you and MiniMeBooks ("we", "us"). By placing an order or using minimebooks.com, you agree to them. If something here doesn't make sense, email hello@minimebooks.com and we'll explain.

1. Who can order

You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live if that's older, and you must be the parent or legal guardian of the child in the book. By ordering, you also confirm that every adult pictured in the book has agreed to their photo being used. The Digital Edition is available worldwide. We currently print and ship hardcovers to addresses in the US and Canada only.

2. Ordering

When you pay, you're placing an order for a personalized book, either the Digital Edition (a print-ready PDF sent by email) or a printed hardcover. Every book on one order comes in the same format. We'll email you to confirm it. The order is final once you approve your preview (see section 4). We can refuse or cancel an order, for example if the photos break these terms or we can't make a good book from them. If we do, we'll refund you in full.

3. Personalization and your content

To make your book, you give us photos, names and other details ("your content"). When you upload, you confirm that:

  • you're the parent or legal guardian of every child in the photos you upload,
  • every adult in the photos has agreed to appear in the book,
  • you have the right to use every photo you upload, and it doesn't break anyone else's rights, and
  • the names and words you type are yours to use.

You keep ownership of your content. You give us a limited permission to use it only to make, preview, print and ship your book and to support your order. That permission ends when we delete your content, as described in our privacy policy. We never use your photos to train AI models.

4. Preview and approval

We'll send you a preview of every page, usually within 2 business days of your order. Please check it carefully: names, spelling, faces and every page. If something isn't right, tell us and we'll fix it before printing. Nothing prints until you click Approve.

When you approve, you're confirming the book is ready as shown. For the Digital Edition, we email you the PDF right away. For the hardcover, we can't change a book once it's gone to print, so we can't accept returns for mistakes that were in the approved preview.

Your family appears in a realistic picture-book style. Printed colors can look slightly different from your screen.

5. Pricing and payment

All prices are in US dollars (USD), wherever you are. Your bank may convert the charge and add its own fees. Shipping and any taxes are shown at checkout before you pay. Payments are processed by Stripe, and we never see your full card number.

6. Cancellations, refunds and our Limited Guarantee

Every order is covered by our Made-for-You Promise:

  1. Before you approve: cancel any time before you approve your preview, for a full refund.
  2. Your preview: we fix mistakes in names, spelling, text and likeness. Nothing is final until you click Approve.
  3. Digital Edition: full refund any time before you approve your preview. Once the PDF is delivered, we can't refund it, but if a page has a mistake, we'll fix it free.
  4. Hardcover after approval: because each book is made only for your child, we can't offer refunds or exchanges for change of mind once you approve the preview.
  5. Hardcover Limited Guarantee: if your book arrives damaged, misprinted or different from the preview you approved, email hello@minimebooks.com within 30 days with a photo. We'll reprint it free or refund you in full, your choice. This doesn't affect your statutory rights, including warranties that can't be excluded by law.
  6. Hardcover delivery: your book ships within 7 business days after approval. If it hasn't arrived within 30 days of that date, you may cancel for a full refund.

To cancel, email hello@minimebooks.com with your order number.

If you don't respond to your preview within 30 days, we'll remind you by email. If we still don't hear back, we may cancel the order and refund you, and delete your photos.

7. Hardcover shipping and lost packages

Delivery times after shipping are estimates. If your book is lost in the mail, we'll reprint it for free. The details are in our shipping and returns policy.

8. Your Digital Edition license

When you buy the Digital Edition, we give you a personal, non-commercial license to the PDF. You can print as many copies as you want for your family, at home or at any print shop, and give printed copies as gifts. You can't sell the PDF or prints of it, share the file publicly, or use it for any business. The download link works for 30 days and allows 10 downloads, so please save a copy.

9. Intellectual property

The stories, characters, artwork style, page designs, text and the MiniMeBooks name and logo belong to us. Your book, printed by us or by you under the Digital Edition license, is yours to keep, read, share and give as a gift. You may share photos of it for personal use. Please don't copy, resell or reproduce the books or the site for commercial purposes.

10. Acceptable use

You agree not to upload or type:

  • photos of anyone who hasn't agreed to appear, or of a child who isn't in your care,
  • photos of public figures or famous characters,
  • anything offensive, hateful, violent, sexual or harassing,
  • anything that breaks the law or someone else's rights.

We review books before printing. If we find content that breaks these rules, we'll cancel the order, refund you and delete the content.

11. Limitation of liability

We work hard to make every book right, but the site and our service are provided as is. To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim about an order is limited to what you paid for that order, and we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute will be handled by the courts of Ontario, unless the consumer protection law where you live gives you the right to bring it closer to home.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page when you place your order is the one that applies to that order.
